In June 2010 the school was successfully re-designated as a Specialist Language College, along with Science College and Gifted and Talented Status. This was the culmination of three years of achievement and further progress both in Languages and more broadly across the school. Winning photo of Lichen CGSB held a competition for all local primary schools during the recent national Science and Engineering week. The theme of which this was ‘diversity’ (Bio diversity, not the dance troupe!) Pupils were encouraged to write on the theme ‘If I were not human, what would I be?’. They had to explain which native [...] [...] Three of our 6th Form Students recently took part in the South East of England regional heat of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s young Analyst ofthe Year competition. Although they did not win they put in avery creditable performance and impressed the judges. So congratulations to Adam Mumford, Graeme Cottrell and Richard Odle. Mr A Watts Head of [...] [...] On Tuesday 18th May 41 parents and students gathered from 5.30–7pm for some extra after school Maths – voluntarily! The groups worked together on past papers, with parents showing the boys how to apply common sense to the work and the boys explaining what they have been learning in Mathematics to parents.
