Course Description:

The course is made up of four components. Students will undertake a Development Study covering Medicine and Treatment. From the Romans to the present day via medieval Europe and the role of wars in promoting change students consider the development of medicine and treatments in society and the wider effects that it had. The second component considers Germany between 1919 and 1945, our Enquiry in Depth. The course covers the rise of the Nazi Party, the problems of the Weimar Republic, the Government of the Third Reich – Control and Opposition, Education, Youth and propaganda.

Paper 3 is a source based assessment of a taught topic and focuses as much on skills and analysis as knowledge, this will be taught considering the Transformation of Surgery between 1845-1918.

All students will undertake a piece of coursework in controlled conditions set by the examination board. This will take place in the spring of year 10.
